Creativity Week 2018: Diversity

Between Monday 12th and Friday 16th February 2018, Nether Alderley Primary School, in collaboration with partners from the Fallibroome Learning Community, hosted a series of workshops and lessons as part of a themed creativity week. This year, we explored 'diversity' through a number of different art forms, inspiring our pupils to embrace others' differences. Creativity week 2018 was an enormous success and we would like to express our gratitude to the visiting artists and teachers who have engaged our pupils this year.

Monday

What a super start to Creativity Week 2018! Pupils from classes 2 and 3 enjoyed a drama workshop, whilst our year 6 pupils spent the day at Broken Cross Primary School, working with children in year 5/6 and across the infants on a visual arts project. Pupils enjoyed meeting each other and making new friends with the spirit of collaboration clearly being embraced by all! Well done to all concerned and a huge thanks to Mrs Frame at Broken Cross Primary for arranging such a great day!

Tuesday

Mrs Anderson-Fitter visited school to work with class 4 on their dance which pupils are looking forward to performing  to a packed house at the annual Fallibroome Creativity Week celebration on Thursday evening. After adding a few final touches in the school hall, we visited Fallibroome to see how the dance would be translated onto the large stage. We hope that this experience will inspire our pupils to explore their performing arts talents in the future.

We'd like to thank the staff at Fallibroome for accommodating us for the rehearsal!

Wednesday

Pupils continued to rehearse the dance performance in the hall with a few final tweaks to the choreography being made. Pupils in Class 4 also put their technology skills into action, producing some stunning visual displays designed to represent their personal hobbies and interests. When collated, these images represent the diversity of our talents as a class. The images were produced on our MacBooks using Keynote to generate individual silhouettes and then import a range of images of pupils' choosing.

Can you recognise your classmates?

Thursday

What a busy day! Pupils were captivated by visiting artists who provided some awesome sessions for all pupils across the school First of all, Rome from Bangdrum (http://www.bangdrum.co.uk) visited to work with classes 4 and 1, delivering a unique and inspiring samba drumming workshop. Pupils were enthralled by his stories of the origins of a range of different drums and loved the opportunity to develop their own skills and express their creativity on a range of different percussion instruments.

In the afternoon, we were delighted to welcome Danny, again from Bangdrum, to deliver dance workshops to pupils from classes 3 and 2. The feedback from staff and pupils has been incredibly positive and we would like to thank the artists for inspiring our pupils.
