Peter Pan - Class 4 and the Fallibroome Learning Community
In June, pupils from Year 5 and 6 enjoyed contributing to a truly magical promenade production of Peter Pan. Led by Mr Hogden, from Fallibroome Academy, the ambitious project was designed to promote inclusion and collaboration between pupils of the schools with the Fallibroome Learning Community.
Planning for the production began in earnest early in the spring term. Our Arts Coordinator, Mr Brady, met with colleagues from partner schools along with Matt Baker, from Theatre in the Quarter, to write songs and decide on the format and scenes for the production. The 'promenade' aspect of the project would present the most significant challenge.
Pupils involvement began when Matt visited Nether Alderley to help compose 'Come With Me' - a song which pupils would perform in their allocated scene - the nursery scene. Following that, Mr Hogden worked with our children to add stage direction for what would be the opening scene of the production.
A final day of rehearsing at Fallibroome helped to prepare the children for the curtain raiser on Tuesday 12th June. Over two nights, the pupils performed their scene 28 times, to an audience of around 1,000 people. The event was enjoyed by members of the learning community and the feedback from those present has been phenomenal.
The project yet again demonstrates our commitment to the arts and the belief that children are entitled to a rich and diverse arts curriculum which enables them to feel valued and share a sense of achievement and collaboration.
We would like to thank all of the staff in the Performing Arts department at Fallibroome, as well as Matt for their support in enabling us to provide a truly unique and memorable experience for our pupils and families. Most of all, we would like to thank our wonderful pupils for once again, proving themselves to be wonderful ambassadors for the school.
